Editorial Policy
How We Report
Independence
The Telescope News is editorially independent. No advertiser, sponsor, political party, or outside organization has any influence over what we report, how we report it, or which stories we choose to pursue. Advertising and sponsored content, where it exists, is always clearly labelled and kept separate from our newsroom's editorial decisions.
Sourcing & Verification
We verify claims against primary sources, official records, and on-the-record interviews wherever possible. Where a source requests anonymity — common in investigative and accountability reporting — we independently corroborate their claims before publishing, and we explain to readers why anonymity was granted.
Corrections
We correct errors quickly and transparently. If a published story contains a factual error, we will update it and note what changed and when. Significant corrections are flagged clearly at the top of the affected article, not quietly edited away.
Fairness
Anyone who is the subject of critical reporting is given a genuine opportunity to respond before publication, and their response is represented fairly in the story.
Opinion vs. Reporting
Explainers and analysis pieces are clearly distinguished from straight news reporting, so readers always know whether they're reading a factual account or an interpretation of it.
Questions or Concerns
If you believe a story fell short of these standards, we want to hear about it — see our Contact page for how to reach our editorial team.
